Our advanced absorbable biomaterials can be processed into custom-designed solid implants for hard tissue anchoring and soft & compliant implants for augmenting tendon healing intended for use in orthopedic surgery. Select the most appropriate polymer for your application design rather than changing your design to use a specific polymer.

Long-Term Absorbable Suture Applications

Poly-Med’s Lactoprene® PLLA/TMC absorbable biomaterials can be used to create custom-designed round braid & flat braid suture constructions to provide long-term strength to facilitate soft tissue approximation/ligation and degrade after healing has occurred. Additionally, our Caproprene® materials may be used to increase the lubricity of suture materials to limit friction within tissues.

Tendon Reinforcement Mesh & Band Applications

Tendon reinforcement constructions can be custom designed using Poly-Med’s Lactoprene® PLLA/TMC and PLLA/TMC/ɛ-Caprolactone absorbable & synthetic biomaterials to provide long-term soft tissue reinforcement in monofilament fiber or multifilament yarn format in a variety of patterns with different basis weights, porosities, and mechanical properties.

Macroporous Bone Scaffold Applications

Macroporous synthetic & absorbable constructs can be custom designed using Poly-Med’s Lactoprene® PLLA/TMC and PLLA/TMC/ɛ-Caprolactone absorbable & synthetic biomaterials in combination with β-tricalcium phosphate or hydoxyapatite to provide a structural scaffold to facilitate bony ingrowth when needed and degrade once sufficient healing has occurred.

Nanofibrous Tissue Scaffolds

Synthetic & absorbable biomaterials can be custom designed & processed into nanofibrous materials that may be utilized to facilitate tissue growth for augmentation of the healing process. Our polymers can be used to make constructions that are softer and more compliant than typical absorbable copolymers.

Bioresorbable Polymers

Absorbable polymers can transform the healing process by temporarily restoring functionality in targeted areas. After use, they resorb within the body without a trace, minimizing the need for follow up surgical procedures.

Bioresorbable Extrusions

Our polymers can be extruded into monofilament fibers, multifilament yarns, or films as inputs into biomedical textile applications. Don’t design for a filament, select the filament for your design.

Biomedical Textiles

Our polymers can be constructed into a variety of fibrous articles and medical textiles. More polymers equal more responsive designs, with better outcomes. Don’t design for a polymer, select the polymer for your design.

Electrospinning

Regenerative scaffolds aim to mimic the physical, chemical, mechanical, and biological cues observed in a normal tissue environment. This technology can be tailored to partially, or fully, absorb during the healing process.

3D Printing

Create lattice-based architectures with 3D-printed absorbable implants via filament-based and resin-based approaches that are inaccessible via injection molding.
