3D Printing for Absorbable Medical Implants

Design Services

Poly-Med, Inc. produces specialized biomaterials with innovative design supported by in-house fused filament printing services from rapid prototyping through production manufacturing.

Implant-Grade Polymers

Absorbable polymers can transform the healing process by temporarily restoring functionality in targeted areas. After use, these materials resorb within the body without a trace, minimizing the need for follow up surgical procedures.

3D Printing Materials

With the ability to provide fully traceable, implant-grade filaments and resins for additive manufacturing, Poly-Med’s 3D printing materials offer distinct advantages in unique properties based on their composition, architecture, and desired performance.

Digitization of Content

On-site 3D printing engineers can translate your conceptual design into formal 3D printing file formats through the use of a variety of software solutions.

3D Printing

Poly-Med’s fused filament fabrication and resin-based 3D printing services offers range of build volumes, unique geometries, along with a diverse selection of medical grade polymers.

Medical Device Manufacturing

3D printing is capable of producing end use parts on-demand, increasing throughput, reducing manufacturing lead times to permit faster innovation and speed to market.

Vat Polymerization with Photoset® Resin

Photoset® liquid-based resin can be used in additive manufacturing methods involving UV radiation, such as DLP & SLA to create high-resolution absorbable implants.

FEATURED MATERIALS:

Photoset® 023

Liquid-based formulation that exhibits mechanical performance similar to TPU-based materials. Photoset® 023 can be utilized for its extended strength retention, coupled with flexibility. This material typically exhibits strength loss in 4 to 6 weeks & mass loss in 6 to 9 months, depending on geometry, physiological environment, and anatomical location.

NEXT-GENERATION ABSORBABLE IMPLANTS

Develop your absorbable implant with Poly-Med’s portfolio of advanced bioresorbable polymers to access lattice-based infill designs to facilitate increased tissue ingrowth compared to solid parts produced via traditional injection molding. Leverage Poly-Med’s vertical integration using our 3D printing services to increase your device’s speed to market and de-risk your supply chain for commercial product supply.
